Life story by Alva Keeling nee Montgomery

It took awhile, but I finally redid a tape I have of Alva Montgomery telling her life story. It is about 30 minutes long and the stories are great. You can find it under the heading of "Recordings". A great tibit is about 20 minutes through the recording is grandma's honeymoon to the Worlds Fair in 1904 in St Louis. Check http://www.crawforddirect.com/worldfairtour.htm  for what she saw.

Time I get this to work!

It has been several months since I did anything with this blog and it is time that I start using it the way I intended.

The big news to report is that the DNA comparison with me and George R Reece is negative. We are not related! That means our common ancestor Abraham Reece is not the father of Elijah Reese. This goes against some family tradition and a published books about Morgan County Tennessee. But now we are against that same old road block. I am hoping that more people submit their DNA samples and we might find a match!

I am now working on revising the web page to match my Roots Magic PC data base and some changes to the web page.

August 1.....

The month found me busy with 3 things. 1) Working with the Reece clan to figure out a way and a who for DNA testing to see if our clans are related. 2) Figuring out ways to keep track of family genealogy contributions--the Collection. Under the Media pull down window look for Kimberly Lucas Collection and click on a blue balloon. Or search for Theadore Reese. Go to Source S35658 for "Karen" Hatcher notes. 3)  I created a Michael Launder Collection to capture all the research he has done on his branch of the Reese family. He has done an exceptional job at documenting each person especially with the census data.

Also I got lots of excuses to play with some computer programing to make the transfer of data from one genealogy program to another easier.

This week we will go off to the beach and have some fun being grandparents. Also we are going to a Genealogy conference in Knoxville, TN at t he end of the month.

I would love to hear your comments..

What I did in June

This past month found me working hard with my computers at getting nowhere in a genalogical sense. But I did make a lot of headway with new TNG website software upgrade (Version 8). Started this blog. Figured out how to move lots of data from Roots Magic 4, my PC program, to TNG. No actual research or improving data accuracy though.

The new verison of TNG allows me to hide your name from view on the internet. As in the past all the facts about you are hidden from view as well if you are alive. Finally, only your first and middle initial and surname will be displayed. I hope these changes will encourage many of you to share more information about your families. If you can prove to me that you are a family member, then I can give you a user account that allows you to see the details.
